Title 1 Parental Involvement Policy 2010-2011

General Expectations- The Lincoln Charter School agrees to implement the following statutory requirements:


The school district will put into operation programs, activities, and procedures for the involvement of parents in all of its schools with Title 1 programs, consistent with section 1118 of the Elementary, and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).  Those programs, activities, and procedures will be planned and operated with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children.

Parental involvement means the participation of parents in regular, two way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities including ensuring-

A.   that parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning:

B.   that parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education at school

C.   that parents are full partners in their child’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child;

D.  the carrying out other activities, such as those described in section 1118 of the ESEA.

Implementation of School/District Parental Involvment Policy

The Lincoln Charter School will involve parents in the joint development of the Title 1 Plan by:

·       Scheduling parent/teacher conferences (SLC’s) at various days and times.

·       Provide translators for Spanish speaking population.

·        Provide parents with information about the curriculum.

·       Parents can review policies in the PAC book located in school office, and in the parent handbook. (pg. 44)

·       Lincoln Charter School will assist parents with technology.

Lincoln Charter School will build the capacity for parent involvement by:

·       Maintaining a public website containing valuable information.

·       Provide monthly newsletter to parents.

·       Meeting with parents through the FASST process (Family and Student Support Team) when students need individualized interventions.

·       Maintaining an open-door policy where parents can visit and volunteer. 

·       Maintaining voicemail and email for all staff.

Lincoln Charter School will offer numerous survey opportunities to parents through the Harris Survey each Spring and on the PTO, and PAC websites.
